Anchor in the UK?

What an awful pun. I'm so sorry.

Has punk been brought low by a butter advert?...

In an effort to instigate a little bit of debate on the Catfish Blog, I'd like to know how people feel about Jonathan Rotten's decision to advertise for County Life Butter. Is this the end of punk rock as we know it? Or were Crass right all along? Or is selling dairy products the most punk-rock thing he could have done? (No one expected it, did they!?)

Johnny Rotten is in the words of almighty Hicks "off the artistic roll call". His justification for doing this was that "it had almost been written for me" IT IS WRITTEN FOR YOU YOU TWAT IT'S AN ADVERT.
what with this ad and the whole kele from Bloc Party affair he's done. He wasn't that great to begin with to be honest.

If Jon Lydon is punk then I'm with Crass on this one

He always was a public whore.
But he'll remain one of the most important figures in the development of music.
His credablity in the long term is, in my opinion, assured by PiL. And this descent into celebrity isn't new, that ITV jungle program wasn't exactly an adventure in antiestablishment.

Is this the story of johnny rotten?
It's better to burn out 'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.'
